Community Transport within PL12 has been active for over 10 years and is run by a group of volunteer drivers.
Hopper buses have become a regular sight around Saltash, benefitting residents and social groups for both educational, social, cultural and sporting events. There's also the well-known Shopper Hopper, which takes people to shopping locations within the PL12 area including Tamar View Garden Centre, where the Sunday Lunch trips are a very popular choice.
During the recent lockdowns, the community transport enterprise has been transporting residents to local Covid-19 vaccination centres in Saltash and Pensilva.
The Community Transport Enterprise is a popular transport service for CEPL12 members, which is set for expansion in the near future as we add another minibus to the fleet.
Community Transport buses currently offer the option to book on to Sunday Lunch trips, shopping trips and are also available for private hire by members for group visits and trips such as theatre trips or group parties.
The service is manned by volunteer drivers who are fully trained, ongoing training and support with regular follow up including driving and safety procedures. All our drivers are professional, courteous and respond to the needs of all passengers.
Our main bus has a tail lift to enable us to accommodate wheelchairs and any passengers who may find steps are an issue. We can also accommodate fixed and collapsible walking aids if required to ensure the safety and mobility of our passengers on all our trips, however these must be declared when booking to ensure space allocation can be determined.
The bus is serviced and maintained to an extremely high standard by a local garage, it is cleaned and sanitised following every trip and meets all government regulations and guidelines regarding Covid 19.
As the Covid restrictions lift, we resumed a regular weekly trip to bring residents into Fore Street, supporting our range of fantastic local traders & giving passengers the opportunity to shop locally. Plans are also being put in place to engage with all community groups, local businesses, local schools and other educational groups.
The future for this valuable community facility will grow with the support of the community it serves.
