To all our amazing team of volunteers and members – thank you for all you support this year!
The lead up to Christmas has been a busy time for all of us at CEPL12!
Over the last few weeks our Community Kitchen hosted a book signing and detective activities, a second community play was also enjoyed by new visitors and we held our first ever Art Exhibition! Mark Rice, together with Chris Cook, put on an impressive display, hopefully this will be the first of many.
The highlight of the last month, however, was Santa’s visit to No 8, supported by his band of elves he was able to meet local children and find out their hopes for Christmas day. We were also fortunate to have a visit from some Disney Princesses who also enjoyed having their photographs taken with local children. Once again, we joined in the festivities of the traditional switch on of the lights and lantern procession. Our shop saw a steady flow of customers stocking up with a range of gifts from our local traders, we also supported the town by providing the power supply for the loud speaker system.
You may have noticed a new addition to Fore Street, Derek the Dolphin is now based at his new home outside No 8, providing a ready supply of water for anyone who needs a refill. Say hello to him if you’re passing!
We were delighted that so many of you could attend the recent ‘thank you evening,’ for volunteers, our organisation couldn’t function without the time, energy and support you give to us. Over 40 volunteers and all the Directors enjoyed meeting up for mulled cider, nibbles and a chat. Special thanks go to Sue Ellingham for organising the whole event, to Anna Murphy for providing the refreshments and to all the local traders who willingly gave gifts to say thank you to our team of volunteers. |t was a fabulous evening!
Our kitchen and shop will be closed over the Christmas period, however we are opening No 8 from 28 – 30th December as a welcoming warm space and a place to meet and chat. Please pop in to say hello if you are in Fore St.
On behalf of all the Directors, I would like to wish you a happy Christmas and a healthy, peaceful New Year, we look forward to continuing to work together with you in 2023.
